The Preston community is an original development started in 1987 by Murray Savings & Loan, dba Prestonwood a Texas Corporation.
Development Company took over development in November 1991. At that time the sales office was located at 109 Summer Lake Drive - the only house on the cul-de-sac, built for a sales office to later be converted to a private residence. At that time 8 neighborhoods were developed and selling houses. They were: Fairways, Falls Villas, Highlands, Ponds, Point, Trace, Greens and Pines. These neighborhoods consisted of 421 lots. At that time there were 18 holes of golf, the Prestonwood County Club and a pool/tennis facility.
Since 1991 Preston has grown to include 1625 homes encompassing approximately 1950 acres of land. Other luxuries added to the community include 2 additional 18-hole golf courses, a new pro shop, new fitness and swim center, new tennis facilities, new maintenance area and replacement of split rail fencing around the course to the current brick and metal fencing.
